Words Matter: That’s Why Bill C-291 Changes Term to “Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material”

I am proud to be the Senate sponsor of Bill C-291, brought forward by my CPC Caucus colleagues MPs Mel Arnold and Frank Caputo. Bill C-291 would change the Criminal Code term “child pornography” to “child sexual abuse and exploitation material”. Words matter: This disgusting material is not consensual, it is not entertainment, it is not art. This is the abuse of vulnerable children. Bill C-291 unanimously passed the House of Commons, and now I will work to get this important bill passed quickly in the Senate.

Here is the video of my 2nd Reading sponsor’s speech I delivered in the Senate Chamber.
