Trudeau Government’s Massive Carbon Tax Hike – Sticking it to the West

In the election last fall, the Trudeau government promised they would cap their carbon tax at a rate of $50/tonne in 2022.

Now, they’ve broken that promise and delivered a whopping carbon tax increase of 240% – to a maximum of $170/tonne by 2030!

Western Canada has been reeling from an energy industry downturn, the pandemic and the resulting economic crisis. An increased carbon tax will mean Western farmers will be squeezed at both ends – paying more to do business while being hit with higher consumer prices.
