Does Trudeau’s Justice Minister Lametti Want to Expand Access to Assisted Suicide?
Justice Minister David Lametti told our Senate Legal Committee that he hopes the exclusion of mental illness as a sole underlying condition from access to assisted suicide is “temporary.” Here, I challenge him as to why his defence of Bill C-7, the Trudeau Government’s assisted suicide legislation, is so half-hearted.
Before he became Justice Minister, MP Lametti wanted to see eligibility for assisted suicide widely expanded. Is this why, as Justice Minister, he failed to appeal this expansionist court ruling by a single lower court judge? Is it because this is the answer he actually wanted?
Watch me question Justice Minister Lametti about this at our Senate Legal Committee hearings on Bill C-7.
