Bill C-7 Sunset Clause Will Sunset the LIVES of Canadians with Mental Illness
The Senate recently voted for a “sunset clause” amendment to the assisted suicide Bill C-7, which, if passed, will extend assisted suicide to people suffering from mental illness after only 18 months.
There are no do-overs with the final act of assisted suicide. There is no room for mistakes. Allowing the premature termination of the life of someone who suffers from mental illness rather than providing them with the opportunity to find a treatment that works will have devastating consequences.
