Why So Few Judicial Appointments? Did Someone Crash LiberaList?

When Minister of Justice David Lametti recently came to the Senate Legal Committee, I asked him why the Trudeau Government’s record on appointing judges in Canada is so bad. After 6.5 years in office, they STILL consistently have 40-60 vacancies – currently a whopping 58! Why? Did their Liberal Party database, LiberaList, crash?

A high number of judicial vacancies severely impacts Canada’s criminal court delays — which can result in serious criminal charges being dropped!

I also questioned Justice Minister Lametti about the very real dangers of allowing criminal trials to proceed by video — including the difficulty for a judge to be able to evaluate an accused’s credibility by Zoom. (This would be allowed if the Trudeau Government’s new Bill S-4 passes.)
Watch me question the Minister of Justice here.
