Trudeau Government Soft on Crime with Bill C-5

Canadians are not onside with this Trudeau government’s soft-on-crime legislative agenda. The Trudeau government has introduced Bill C-5 to remove mandatory minimum sentences for a large number of crimes, including drug crimes and some firearms offences. In Canada, criminal offenders already usually only serve 1/3 of their sentence if they are of “good behaviour” while in prison. In almost all cases, offenders are released after serving only 2/3 of their sentence. Why won’t the Trudeau government consider the victims of these crimes and not only the rights of the criminal offenders? Watch me challenge the Justice Minister at the Senate Legal Committee here.
