At a time when 1.4 million Ukrainian-Canadians feared for the safety of their loved ones and the homeland of their ancestors, and wanted to appeal directly to the Trudeau government to act now to help Ukraine, they couldn’t.
As we debated the Emergencies Act in the Senate this week, gates were still up around Parliament Hill and the public was still forbidden from gathering there.
Meaning: if you wanted to protest and demand that the Trudeau government do more to #StandWithUkraine, you couldn’t.
