Trudeau’s “Independent” Senate Appointment Process is Smoke and Mirrors

Senator Denise Batters challenges the Trudeau’ Government’s Senate Leader on the PM’s so-called “independent, arms-length, non-partisan” Senate appointment process. His non-answer (an almost inaudible “no”) in Senate Question Period proves this is just smoke and mirrors. Provincial governments (like Saskatchewan, BC and Manitoba) have declined to name Senate advisory panellists, so the PMO picks the panellists — and then the PMO picks the senators.
