Trudeau’s Marijuana Law Is Just Not Ready: RCMP & Public Safety Prove It
Senator Denise Batters questions top officials from the RCMP and the Government of Canada’s Public Safety department at the Senate’s Legal committee. With their absolute inability to answer key questions about this legislation, they prove that the Trudeau marijuana laws are just not ready.
Senator Batters asks whether someone who is stopped at roadside under the Trudeau Government’s new drug-impaired driving provisions is entitled to a right to counsel under the Charter of Rights, and whether that person will be advised of those rights prior to a roadside drug screening test. None of the top officials from the RCMP and from Minister Goodale’s Public Safety Department present at the committee could answer these key questions! This raises real concerns about how these organizations are training police officers right now to apply this legislation.
