Trudeau-Appointed Senator Sees Accountability as “Micromanagement”
The Senate Internal Economy Committee, the board overseeing Senate budgets and administration, was tasked with deciding whether or not to allow the “Independent Senators’ Group” a mid-year funding increase of $262,066. In addition to their existing budget of $722,000 (approved in December 2016), this would bring the total ISG budget to $1.06 million. Following pointed questions about this significant mid-year increase from Senator Denise Batters, Trudeau-appointed “independent” Senator Moncion dismissed these concerns over $262,000 of additional taxpayers’ dollars as “micromanagement.”
