How many years will Parliament’s Centre Block renovations take?

Senator Denise Batters questions senior officials from the federal government’s Public Works Department about the massive renovation of Parliament Hill’s Centre Block. Senator Batters presses these officials about the projected timeframe for this major project. She states that originally, the project was scheduled to take 10 years; then, before the move to temporary quarters even happened, the timeframe was bumped up to 13 years. Now, the senior official in charge of this project for the Public Works Department won’t even disclose a timeframe for completion!

As Senator Batters states in her questioning at the Senate’s Internal Economy committee, more time equals more money — and that money is taxpayers’ dollars.
